STUDENT AUDIO COMPETITION
Rules and Regulations

1. The competition is open to all full time graduate and undergraduate students who maintained significant control over the content and aesthetics of the submitted program (producing, directing, writing, editing etc.). Student entrants must either be individual BEA members OR their institutions must be BEA Institutional Members.  Membership forms and information on BEA Institutional Members may be found on the BEA website, www.beaweb.org. All productions completed after January 1, 2007 are eligible. Applicants are allowed only one entry per category with a maximum of three categories overall. Each entry must be submitted on separate CDs.

2. Applicants must submit one complete entry form for each program submitted. Each entry form must be accompanied by one full entry fee in the form of a check or money order payable to the Broadcast Education Association. Incomplete entry forms or absence of entry fees will disqualify the applicant from competition.

3. Applicants must submit FOUR CD's for each entry. Sports program entries may be either sports talk programming or play-by-play work and entrants should submit up to ten minutes of representative sampled performance.  All entries must be in English.  Works in progress are not eligible.

4. All audio must be submitted on CD format. Projects that are not comprehensible for any reason will not be accepted into competition. No cassette tapes will be accepted

5. Entries submitted WILL NOT be returned. The BEA, its management or its juries cannot assume liability for damage or loss. All submitted audio materials must be high quality copies. DO NOT send originals, masters, or anything considered one-of-a-kind.

6. If an entity other than the applicant owns the rights to all or part of the submitted program, the applicant must attach written consent from the owner or an authorized representative of the owner to the application.

7. The decision of the judges is final, and winners may not be selected in all categories. Exceptions to the rules and regulations must be authorized by the Festival Committee.

8. Entries must be received by December 7, 2007, to be eligible for competition. Late entries will not be accepted.

9. A single program (entry) may be submitted in ONE CATEGORY ONLY.
10. Each winning entry receives two award plaques at BEA expense.  The first goes to the winner and the second to the winner’s institution.  Additional plaques may be ordered after the convention.
