RULES AND REGULATIONS
Interactive Multi-Media Division
Student IMM Competition

Applicants must submit one complete entry form for each project submitted. Each entry form must be accompanied by one full entry fee in the form of a check or money order payable to the Broadcast Education Association. Incomplete entry forms or absence of entry fees will disqualify the applicant from competition.

If an entity other than the applicant owns the rights to all or part of the submitted program, the applicant must attach written consent from the owner or an authorized representative of the owner to the application.

Judges
Judges will be selected from educators and professionals in the media industry on a regional, national, and international basis. Persons connected institutionally with entries in the competition will not act as judges for those entries. The decision of the judges is final, and all available awards may not be presented. Exceptions to the rules and regulations must be authorized by the Festival Committee.

Awards
Panels of judges will award four First, four Second, and four Third place awards, as well as at least eight “Awards of Merit.” Each winning entry receives two award plaques at BEA expense. The first goes to the winner and the second to the winner’s institution. Additional plaques may be ordered after the convention.

Entries
All types of entries are encouraged, from web sites, to CD-ROM’s, interactive DVD’s, hand-held device applications, and projects intended for wireless delivery. Entries may be originally intended for delivery online (web-based) or with fixed media (CD-ROM, DVD, DVD-ROM, or ZIP drive.

There are two categories for entries: 1) “authorship projects” and 2) “group projects.” Entries completed by individuals or by small groups (no more than three) must enter the “authorship projects” category; projects completed by a larger group or by an entire class will enter the “group projects” category. Judges reserve the right to designate a change of category for submissions.

DVD entries will be considered in the IMM Festival competition if they contain significant additional material and/or an original interface design. DVD’s created primarily as a means to deliver a video program should be entered in the Video competition.

For purposes of IMM Competition judging, four (4) copies of your fixed media project must be submitted on CD-ROM only. They must be labeled with the same program name that appears on the application, the submitter's name and address, phone number and e-mail address. The original delivery medium should be noted on the entry. For purposes of a Showcase Reel at the BEA Convention, include at least three screen shots of your project. These should be submitted on a separate CD-ROM to be included with your entry form.

Web-based programs which are unavailable online or other programs which cannot be opened or viewed by judges will be disqualified. Please note in the program description on the entry form if special plug-ins are required for viewing. The decision of the judges is final.

Entries must be received by December 7, 2007, to be eligible for competition. Late entries will not be accepted.

Websites, or web-based submissions should not be changed, except for required content updates, between December 7th and February 11th 2007.

Entries will not be returned.

As a condition of entering the IMM competition, producers agree to clear all licenses, copyrights, and permissions so that your submission can legally and ethically be presented at the 2008 BEA convention.
